The holiday season is upon us and we see Christmas trees everywhere. Have we ever stopped to think or admire all the beautiful spruces and pines that are so abundant in Canada? I love being outdoors and spending a few minutes admiring the stunning spruces and pine trees; sometimes I pinch some of the needles and smell the oils from the needles. The needle-like branches re so beautiful, especially when clusters of snow fall on them.

Spruce, pine and fir needle are some ofthe essential oils that jump out at me at Christmas time. They have the unique smell that always remind me of Christmas.

The spruce, pine, and fir needles have been used in ancient times in cough syrups and for respiratory health. These are wonderful essential oils to add to a scent-free bubble bath. These oils are great in winter as they help soothe the muscles and joints and balance the mind and spirit. Another great essential oil I like to mix with spruce, pine and fir essential oils is Juniper Berry Essential Oil. Juniper Berry has a calming effect not only on the muscles but the body as a whole.
